Saint Simons Island in the Winter: What is a Photographer to do?

It is the off season here in the Golden Isles of Georgia. Saint Simons Island has returned to the sleepy little village it really is. The beach lovers of summer have been replaced by the snowbirds of winter. It has gotten a little boring for yours truly, so I have been playing with my camera and Photoshop.

Saint Simons Island, GA: Little Boys by the Pier

I love people watching whenever I am down by the pier in the Village on Saint Simons Island, you never know who or what you will see. Last weekend I was sitting and knitting with my camera by my side (don’t leave home without it!) and spotted these 2 little boys.
They were adorabe! Dad let me capture a few shots, and they were experts in front of the camers. What cuties pies!

Sometimes you just have to play with an image.

It is winter here on Saint Simons Island. It was a cold and rainy day, a good day to stay inside and play around in Photoshop. Today I decided to explore the world of textures and if they could improve some of my photos…take them from ordinary to extraordinary. I like what textures can do. Check out what I did to this image of one of the restored tabby houses on the grounds of the Cassina Garden Club.

Dog Day on East Beach at Saint Simons Island

Dad! Watch me, Dad! Watch me!

Enjoyed some lovely, sunny weather here on Saint Simons Island. Walking on East Beach I spotted lots of dogs who were also enjoying the day romping with one another, chasing balls, and general merriment. I had my camera with me and could not resist taking some snapshots.
Even photographers have to let their hair down and just take snaps!

Madonna and Child

A mother gazes at her infant daughter, a special bond that will last a lifetime.  Lorelie was 2 weeks old and a precious, precious baby.  She was so patient and slept through much of the session.  What a wonderful addition to the family!

I recently had the pleasure of creating some headshots for a woman just finishing up her degree. I know they will be successful in helping her her in the launch of her new career.

Three Sisters/Three Portraits

I don’t think I have had more fun on a photo session than with these three lovely young ladies.  This session was to fulfill a Christmas gift promise for their mother. 

The best part of the gift was the appearance of her eldest on her parents’ doorstep a few days before Christmas.  She had flown home from China for an unexpected Christmas surprise!

Taken at St. Simon’s Island over the Christmas Holidays.   The pups were very squiggly and we had many laughs trying to capture a good image.  I think we were very successful in creating a lovely portrait to cherish for years.

They are getting married!

My niece recently announced her engagement and I got to do the  engagement portraits!  I am soooo excited…she is the first to get married!
